After three years of brainstorming, experimenting and collaborating, DJ Nu-Mark’s debut release, Broken Sunlight is set for release December 11th, 2012.
On inviting his favorite emcee’s, singers and musicians to create a genre crossing talent laden gem of a record, DJ NU-MARK says “I wanted create an album that contained songs I would play out as a DJ. Broken Sunlight incorporates a wide selection of genres while remaining rooted in Soul. I truly enjoyed re-visiting raw Hip Hop with Bumpy Knuckles, J-Live and Large Professor. I felt it was important to work with up and coming mc’s Tiron, Ayomari and Haas who gave the album a refreshing outlook on relationships as well. What made the album diverse and unique was my collaboration with Quantic and Laudir de Oliveira in two very energetic Latin joints featuring amazing musicians from around the world. Hearing the synergy between Aloe Blacc and Charles Bradley really rounded out the album/series in a cohesive way, true to my soulful production.”
All of the limited edition 10” vinyl album tracks are consolidated on the full length version of Broken Sunlight with a brand spanking new track you can’t get anywhere else, “Tough Break.” In addition to all that goodness, Broken Sunlight will include a DVD, Nu-Conduit, which features DJ NU-MARK’s world travels, behind the scenes making of the album and performances of the legendary Toy Set. Download “Don’t Play Around feat. Aloe Blacc and Charles Bradely” below.

It is with great pride that Fender announces the release of the GB Hot Rod Deluxe combo and GB Hot Rod Deluxe 112 Enclosure – two elegant performance machines designed in close collaboration with Grammy Award-winning jazz guitar virtuoso George Benson.
“When I plug my guitar through this amplifier, it gives me everything I’m looking for: punch, power and tonality,” said Benson. “The fact that Fender allowed me to design the covering and the amplifier’s looks is outstanding.”
Meticulously engineered, the GB Hot Rod Deluxe is a striking 40-watt 1×12 combo outfitted in a gray-black vinyl covering, silver-strand grille cloth and a classy GB logo badge. It has the full bottom-end characteristic of 6L6 tubes, and a versatile all-tube preamp including a 12AT7 up front for cleaner tone, especially with humbucking pickups. A 100-watt Jensen® C12K speaker handles the immediacy of Benson’s singing soloing style with clarity and range, and the solid-pine cabinet increases tonal resonance while reducing weight.
The GB Hot Rod Deluxe 112 Enclosure mates perfectly with the GB Hot Rod Deluxe combo, and adds fullness bass response and wider stage coverage. It is a closed-back cab neatly dressed in gray-black vinyl covering and silver-strand grille cloth with a GB logo badge, and is equipped with a Jensen C12K 100-watt speaker and solid pine construction for lighter weight.
“Just to have my name on these is enough prestige for a guitar player from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,” Benson quipped.

HOT PLATE RECORDS RELEASES DJ NU-MARK’S THIRD 10” IN BROKEN SUNLIGHT SERIES ON JULY 24TH, 2012.
Crate-diggers rejoice!! Broken Sunlight Series 3 features a re-edit of the original Ernie Hines classic “Our Generation” and on the flip, “The Fever” featuring A-Skillz.
Ernie Hines’ ”Our Generation” is most commonly known as the sample Pete Rock & Cl Smooth use on “Straighten It Out” (Mecca & The Soul Brother.) Nu-Mark creates a re-edit with open drum breaks and a beefed up mix down.
DJ Nu-Mark says, “I chose ‘Our Generation’ because the vocal content in this 1972 classic still pertains to what’s happening in the world today. The topic of unwarranted wars and violence still plague our society.
‘Our Generation’ falls right in line with the theme of Broken Sunlight because it examines the fractures of our surroundings while forging ahead through trying times. This track is a sneak peek at a multi-track project that I’ll be working on after Broken Sunlight. This will be released as Series 3 of my 10″ color vinyl series in Gold vinyl. Notice the 10″ cover art of Ernie Hines with the master reel next to his elbow!”
As a member of the critically acclaimed, gold-selling Hip-Hop outfit, Jurassic 5, DJ Nu-Mark graced the group with precision production and cutting edge stage routines. The Broken Sunlight series will be released as a full album with instrumentals, accapelas, and a documentary style DVD of all the collaborations in the studio and on the road.
